One Day At The Napittachhora Trail

This blog is about a trip to a beautiful mountain track called NAPITTACHHORA. So let's dive into the beauty of "Napittachhora Trail".

Another blog on another amazing place. A mesmerizing place in the mountains with 3 waterfalls.
The place is called Napittachhora. Napittachhora is in Mirsorai, Chittagong. To be exact, the area is known as Noya Duar Bajar. You'll see a Red Signboard saying 'Napittachhora' in Bangla like the photo.

The mountain is a bit far from here. You’ll have to walk through a village. After passing the village you’ll have to a cross rail line and go to the road on the other side. From there it is a one-way lane.

You'll see hotels on the way. Fun fact: You'll have to order food in advance before going to the waterfalls. Or else they will not serve you anything. Because they cook after you place an order. So by the time you visit the waterfalls and return, the food will be cooked by then. They charge a lot for the food. The best advice is to try buying some snacks from the Noya Duar Bajar entrance. While passing the last hotel there will be some people sitting beside the road. They sell tickets.  Each ticket costs 20 tk/-.

Then you'll have to follow the road and you’ll reach another locality of the tribe community. People of the mountains. If you get lost you can ask them. They will help you. At the end of the area starts the main trail.

There are 2 ways. A long one and a short one. The long one directly leads you to the first waterfall which is the last one according to the downside of the mountain. The short one will take you above the bottom waterfall. The 2 ways connect at that point.  Basically, my friends and I went to the long route to go 3 waterfalls accordingly.  From bottom to top. Again,  One way long trip with no diversions.  Just need to follow the water.

You'll need to walk carefully because there are many insects and creatures. Definitely beware of leeches because you will not get a single clue when they get stuck to your body and start sucking blood.
Another advice is to wear shoes with good soles. If your shoe doesn’t give a good grip on the surface, you might end up in a terrible accident.

The best season to visit Napittachora is in the rainy season or a few days after the rainy season. By rainy season I do not mean 4-5 days of rain. I meant the actual 2 months of the rainy season. Because when we reached the first waterfall it was all dried out despite it rained for 4 days onward. There was a small amount of water in the bottom. We felt bad at first but after climbing up the cliff of the fall we were happy.  There was wind blowing hard.

It was very refreshing there. We thought we could sit there all day. But suddenly it started to rain.

Then we started moving to the 2nd waterfall which was on the top. You'll see 2 ways. One is on the left with a red flag on a tree and the other one on the right is like a stairway to the upperside of the mountain.  The Red flag indicates 'Danger Zone'. Because people died there by drowning as the depth of the area is unknown. So avoid going there.  Take the stairway and climb up.

After climbing you'll see 2 shelters made with bamboo. we took a small break. Ate some food and drank water. The rain was pouring heavy so we had to wait for quite a while.

You'll have to go to the left side of the road.  If you visit this place in rainy weather,  walk carefully because the track is wet and slippery. If not then you might fall 100-200 meters at the bottom.  Again you’ll end up in a one-lane waterway.

Follow that and walking for 15-30 minutes you’ll reach a point where to lane takes you to 2 different waterfalls. The one lane on the left takes you to the big waterfall and the left lane takes you to the 2nd waterfall.

We went to see the big one first on the left lane. The lanes in the jungle are filled with big boulders. You have to climb them to pass them. While walking in the water put your steps very carefully because you might encounter big and deep holes. Best if you use a mid-size stick or bamboo. The boulders are also very slippery. Avoid which has green moss on them. My friend injured himself twice.

You will see a big mountain like a V shape which surrounds you. You'll see water falling in the middle. That's the big waterfall or the main waterfall of Napittachora. Also the most beautiful one. But don't get fooled by the beauty easily. You might get down in the waterfall without noticing the depth of it. In the middle, it is deep down.  So check before putting your steps.

We returned to the 2 way lane and went to the 3rd waterfall. Again a way track. You’ll reach the place in the photo thinking of it as a small waterfall but you have to climb it and move forward.

Thanks to the rain there was quite a good amount of water falling from the waterfall. Sometimes you just get goosebumps thinking how it is all structured the way nature furnished itself so beautifully.

We spent some moments and returned the exact way we came. After returning to the shelter we didn’t go for the stairways.  We took the other side to get down the mountain... That is the shortest and quickest way to the locality.

In the end, it was an amazing adventure.  I hope to live 1000 more lives to see what The Almighty has left for us in this world. The pure art of creation only GOD can offer to human beings. Maybe again I'll return to the call of mountain and share my experience with you.
